Conditional Sentence, Type 1,2,3

Pengertian, Tipe dan Struktur Kalimat.

Conditional sentences merupakan kalimat pengandaian. Kita semua pasti sering berandai-andai, contohnya; Jika saya punya uang banyak saya akan pergi ke Paris. Tapi kenyataanya kita tidak punya banyak uang. Selain itu, conditional sentence dapat digunakan untuk menspekulasi apa yang akan terjadi misalnya kalau saya minum segelas air pasti saya tidak akan kehausan. 

Conditional Sentences

Di dalam kalimat ini (conditional sentences) selalu kita tambahkan konjungsi yaitu "IF".

Di dalam Bahasa Inggris, conditional sentences terdiri dari tiga tipe yaitu:

1.Type 1 True in the present/future
2.Type 2 Untrue in the present/future

3.Untrue 3 Untrue in the past

Selain tiga tipe di atas, pada referensi lain ada yang menyebutkan juga tipe 0 (type zero). Tipe zero ini digunakan untuk mengungkapkan fakta yang akan terjadi akibat suatu sebab. Contohnya; 

Jika saya meletakan air di dalam lemari pendingin, maka air itu akan menjadi dingin.

(If I put water in the fridge, it will be chill)

Untuk melihat susunan kalimatnya pada tipe 1-3, silakan perhatikan table berikut:

Untrue in the past	Past perfect	Would have + past participle	(d) If I had had free time, I would have called my mother.

Catatan:

Pada kalimat (a), dan (b) memiliki makna nyata bahwa saya akan menelpon ibu saya setiap pekan. Kita menggunakan tenses present tense dan simple future.

Pada kalimat (c) memiliki makna bahwa saya benar-benar tidak ada waktu. Jadi saya tidak menelpon ibu saya setiap pekan.

Pada kalimat (d) memiliki makna bahwa saya benar benar tidak punya waktu pada pekan yang lalu (in the past) jadi saya tidak menelpon ibu saya. 

Pada kalimat  (d) kita menggunakan kata kerja ke 3 (past participle) pada kalimat:

-If I had had

-I would have called my mother. 

Pada type ke 3 kita menggunakan tenses, past tense dan past perfect tense.

Contoh kalimat conditional sentences:

1. If I don’t eat, I always get hungry. (kalau saya tidak makan, saya lapar).

2. If I were you, I would close the door. (kalau saya jadi kamu, saya akan menutup pintunya)

3. I will buy new laptop, if I have enough money. (saya akan membeli laptop baru kalau saya mempunyai uang)

4. Monica injects the patient if she gets the permission from doctor. (monica menyuntik pasiennya kalau dia dapat ijin dari dokter)

5. Bini and Beno visit their grandmother if they have new car. (Bini dan beno akan mengunjungi neneknya kalau mereka punya mobil baru)
